Any great sales person will tell you, the only way to succeed is to believe not only in the product you are selling, but believe most of all in yourself. If we don’t trust our own abilities to get the job done and done well, how will anyone else? It’s when we lose our own motivation and sense of direction that we let our belief in ourselves falter. Why does this happen and why does it happen so often? Why don’t we leap out of bed every morning with a spring in our step and smile on our face to welcome the world and all the tasks we have that day? Because only medicated and crazy people can do this, that’s why. The rest of us have to find ways to rekindle that spark on a regular, sometimes even daily basis.
What is the absolute best, no fail, guaranteed way to do this? Surround yourself with other people seeking the same goals as you. They don’t need to be after the exact same end result but they need to feel a pull towards making a success story out of each day. We at heart are pack animals. We need the support of our peers, our mentors and even our critics in order to excel. What’s that saying? It takes a village? This is why networking is so darned important. Networking both within and without your industry. You will never find new ideas or angles working the exact same way every day. Meeting new people, asking questions and most importantly listening to what others have to say is a sure fire way to find new meaning in your own direction.
When we surround ourselves with goal minded people we are astounded to find how motivated we become. We see other’s success and hear their stories and think, “Hey.. I can do that too!”. And you’re right, you can! And you know what? You’ll find that sometimes you are the motivation for someone else to kick start their goals into action. But networking is hard, or tedious or boring! No silly! Find people who not only want to succeed but that do it in ways you enjoy! Find that group looking for the world’s best tea or rolling the longest Play Doh snake, or building the best business they can and talk about it. If you don’t know where to start here are a couple ideas for you. Do yourself a favor.. get out of your box. Put down that negativity. Quit being a scaredy pants and talk to other people regularly about what gets you jazzed in order to build a better business that reflects your personality and your goals. You’ll be amazed at the results.
